"Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. "
Do you ever wonder why there aren’t more signs and wonders? I mean Jesus said we would do even greater things than he?
I remember sitting with a good friend who throughout her cancer journey believed she was going to be healed. We prayed for her to be healed. We sought God for her healing. But instead she died.
Why doesn’t God heal every time? I don’t know. I know He can. I know He does. I have prayed for healing and seen it happen but not every time I’ve prayed resulted in healing.
We don’t know whether every time the apostles prayed it resulted in signs and wonders. The text only says there were many signs and wonders.
But I do know that we will see more signs and wonders if we ask God for them, than if we don’t.
I think a lot of the time God is at work; bringing about life, bringing about hope, bringing about peace, bringing about beauty and we don’t even notice.
Maybe we should start being in awe or what he has done rather than when he hasn’t. . . .
And what has he done? He’s given you salvation, he’s given you eternal life, he’s given you friendship with the Creator of the Universe. If that’s not a sign and wonder I don’t know what is . . .
Friends, let’s be awed at the signs and wonders we do see!
