"Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed."
1 Cor 12:1
There are many churches who don’t practise the spiritual gifts. Personally, I don’t understand this as the Bible makes reference to spiritual gifts often. They are mentioned in Romans, 1 Corinthians, Ephesians and 1 Peter. They were foretold by the prophet Joel and promised by Jesus (Mark 16:17-18).
What are the spiritual gifts? Prophecy, serving, teaching, giving, leadership, mercy, word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, tongues, interpretation of tongues, help, administration and more.
God wants us to use the spiritual gifts for the benefit of others. They are used to bless others, to build up the church and bring us to maturity.
What is your gift? What comes naturally? What do you enjoy and thrive in? If you’re not sure ask others what they see in you. There are also online tests like spiritualgiftstest.com to help you work it out. Seek confirmation from God.
Once you have found your gift find a way to use it! It might be in a ministry of the church. It might be in your vocation. It might be in your family.
It is beautiful to hear an orchestra playing together. Each instrument bringing a different unique sound that only it can make. That is the church!
Each person using their gifts to bless others. Play on people!
