"Praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved." Acts 2:47
Wouldn’t you like to see the kind of revivals they talk about in the Bible? In Acts 2:41, 3000 became believers in one day. You hear of the Awakenings in America, or the Welsh revival or other revivals that have taken place and think that was really something. Wouldn’t it be amazing if all of the Shoalhaven and Kiama regions came to follow Jesus in my life time? That would blow my mind.
I think there is something key about this verse. The people were praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. Two things I take from this.
Praise God and know/love your neighbour.
1. When we praise God the focus is on God and not ourselves. We can be praising God all the time. On our own, in the car, with our family, together at church. When we praise God we remember what He has done for us and who we are in Him. If we stop praising God we lose our saltiness. And we have nothing left to offer our community.
2. When we know and love our neighbour we enjoy the favour of the people. I enjoy walking around in Berry because I know most of the people. I know them from mainly music or school or netball or they are literally my neighbours. When we know the community around us then they have the opportunity to observe us and see that we live our lives differently. And hopefully that’s attractive.
I don’t know when revival will come. I am praying and seeking God for it. I long for my friends and family to know Jesus. In the meantime I will praise God and love my neighbour all the days of my life.
Will you join me?
